Improving business processes at Edexcel
Orchard Learning and Development Limited conducted an organisational review of a key function within Edexcel, the UK’s leading qualifications and awarding body and part of Pearsons, the multi-national media and publishing group.
High staff turnover and incidences of stress, particularly in the busy summer period between examinations and release of results, led to a need for a full analysis of roles and processes within the function concerned.
Following a series of focus groups, staff and management interviews, work shadowing and an evaluation of relevant management information, Orchard produced a comprehensive report on its findings and recommendations, with an action plan for achieving these, presenting this formally to senior business managers and team leaders.
Most of these recommendations were acted upon, and, a year on, clear improvements in work performance and satisfaction levels had been achieved.
